MEET THE CANDIDATES
Quickly, which model has defined the current decade?
Ah ha! You can only think of Kate Moss. But, is it OK to be the most important model of the world for two decades in a row?! (the ex-girlfriend of Leonardo doesn't count) (And, for the record, would she still be so on top if she hadn't ever been "Cocaine Kate"?, and, isn't the Daily Mirror's vengeance against her the worst ever? (meaning they totally made her a favor)).
So, isn't it time to find another underground queen?
These three top models are beautiful, fun and opinionated. They're here for the job but, what makes each of them special and worth the throne?
The three have a special charisma that makes them addictive, first condition to be a star. They've already worked with the biggest designers on catwalks, campaigns, as muses, etc. It's no surprise Fashion is always looking for new and different faces, even if they're not as traditionally beautiful as others (Lily Cole anyone?), but to go from sensation to icon you gotta have more than a unexpected gorgeousness (tip: it helps if you do drugs).
AGYNESS DEYN. Lancashire, England. 20.
She's the newest catwalk sensation and she even has her own rocker boyfriend (some guy of some band that's friends with Pete Doherty), she has such a characteristic look (who knew there were any untaken) and she's pretty in a anti-pretty way. She's totally unconventional and that's why everybody's so crazy about her.
Why does she have possibilities?
Cause she's new, totally recognizable and arty, yet she's skinny, knows how to walk and how to move.
Why I love her:
I always enjoy androgyny, and don't you feel so much like you wanna be friends with her?
Why she has to watch the competence:
Cause maybe she's too charismatic and recognizable. Maybe her fresh look is detachable and will be a three seasons fling, when it's not fun anymore that she doesn't have long hair.
IRINA LAZAREANU. Romanian-born Canadian. 25.
Do you know that thing of seeing some star from some other country's "American Idol"? When you go: how the f★★k went big that guy/girl? Then they tell you he/she is from "Whatever Idol" and you go "ahhhhh".
That's exactly the feeling this girl evokes, only she didn't have a "Whatever Idol", she had Kate Moss. The Queen Bee herself chose her to star in the cover of Vogue Paris' January 2006 issue, in an unforgettable androgynous fest.
I know I know, it's the best Vogue cover ever. Have you seen the guy in the left? Can you have enough of him? Don't you want his hair so badly?
After that she became a new top model and walked for all the big names (and small and medium), and she was even the unlikely muse of Karl Lagerfeld.
I don't know if she has a rocker boyfriend (I'd bet my life to it), but guess what, she, elle, ella, kuchi kuchi, is a rocker herself. Now beat that. Can I make it? She was the drummer of The Babyshambles. I made it.
So if the Queen Bee has the capacity of giving her Crown to the next herself, she's already chosen, and she chose Irina, her buddy and her boyfriend's, as she's the face of her Topshop collection.
The Cocaqueen has chosen, will the commoners accept?
Why you love her:
Even though she was chosen by the Cocaqueen, she's the triumph of the commoners . She's the tall and skinny version of you and me (OK I'm taller and skinnier than her so let's say You), she's like the poor girl who was in her bedroom and the fairy godmother came and made her dream of being a supermodel true, and the "whatever idols" have proven that story highly successful. She's also a rocker and she's preparing her first album at the moment with the help of Sean Lennon, which checks the "underground needed" box.
Why it's not so easy:
I love that she became so big at the age of 24/25, but maybe she's a bit late to be the model who defined next decade. Plus, as much as you love her, truth is she's not exactly Daria so... another fling or are the commoners the next big thing? (Good news for her is Moss is not Daria either)
BUT THERE IS ONE MORE THING...
COCO ROCHA. Canada. 18.
She's the tallest, youngest and most "traditionally" beautiful of the three. She's still a kid but everyone seems to not have enough time to describe how wonderful she is as a person. She's a fun kid and she has that mousy and aerodynamic face that looks so perfectly futuristic for the current Balenciaga Campaign.
OK OK I know what you're thinking, I know they looked much better in me, but she did a great job too.
Why she's big:
Because of all the above mentioned, plus she have the charisma she gained after she did Irish dancing in the Gaultier runway. Plus... that name!
Why she has it difficult:
Because of all the above mentioned, plus she doesn't have a rocker boyfriend. Go get one girl! The uglier the better!
I mean, I think she's too much of "just a model" too be an icon, you know. I think she's gonna be big but you need something more to get beyond that. Who knows, maybe she has more surprises than the Irish dancing.
SO THE LESSON WE LEARNED TODAY:
If you wanna be a catwalk sensation you better get a fucking weird name or don't even try. I mean seriously, can you imagine these girls being where they are if they where called Mary Smith?

Oh about Agyness I wanted to add that poor poor Maria Carla Boscono, she tried the same look seasons ago and nobody cared, well she didn't have the black eyebrows. I always loved her so I hope she finds her place too.

why is it that when someone is doing well the british always try to bring them down. agness is doing brilliant right now the other girls look horribal.and what the hell is thing about age irina is still young not 60 years old with a walking stick.and if she had short hair she would be no where near as beautiful as agyness.if agyness had hair like irina she would totaly smash the competition because she has a better face.

People are stalked all the time and I have never heard of a restitution award in such a case before. Perhaps there is some justification for it in this case; for example, if he was profiting off the photos. But the article suggests they were not sold. So I am bewildered as to why there is any award at all.
